DJ recently received some School Zone Workbooks for his birthday and we've been working with the books everyday. The easy to follow instructions and very colorful pages makes learning so much fun for the little ones.
I am giving away a School Zone (Super Deluxe Basics) Workbook for ages 3-5 OR 4-6 to one lucky reader. Please, indicate which book you would like if you're the winner.
To enter: please leave a comment on what creative ways you've been incorporating learning with your children.
Giveaway ends Friday, December 4, 2009
Disclosure: I didn't receive any monetary compensation for this post. This post is based solely on my thoughts of the product and wanted to share with a lucky reader.
Creative ways I've been incorporating learning with my 4 yr old son is by adding learning and teaching to our everyday lives. Everyday is a teaching moment no matter what we are doing. Going to store, I will ask what color car is next to us. Making up stories and allowing him to use his imagination and allowing him to solve his own problems.
ReplyDeleteI love offering ways to learn through play and whether it is outside looking at bugs and trees or inside the kitchen cooking I always look to keep hands busy and minds working
ReplyDeleteI have been trying to help my son with is fine motor skills so we have been playing with playdough and drawing his name in soap on a mirror and also having him shred bits of paper.
ReplyDeleteI make everything a game. If it is a letter memory games, or number memory game. Just basic things like that, they enjoy!!

I am going to start homeschooling my kids in January so this would be perfect. I try to make learning fun for them and do lots of hand on projects with the learning.
ReplyDeleteI would love the 4-6 Thank you

I would love the 4-6 workbook. I ask simple questions that require practicing skills that my nephew has already acquired.
ReplyDeleteI would love the 3-5. I use cooking as a creative way to incorporate learning with my 4 children. It's helped with their math skills.
ReplyDeleteI try to take advantage of teachable moments each day. The natural curiosity of kids allow for some fun learning times!
ReplyDeleteI've been using magnetic alphabet letters with my son and the numbers for doing simple math problems.
ReplyDeleteI agree with the other comments that you can make any time into a learning experience but my favorite way is to have my kids help me with cooking. That way they can get the math (fractions!!) and the joy of being in the kitchen together. It is a perfect win win situation for all of us.
ReplyDeleteI would like the 4-6 book set.

I incorporate art into a lot of our learning activities. My kids like to make crafts and they don't even realize they're learning something new at the same time!

They help with baking in the kitchen, they also have blocks that they love to build and create with.

We sing our times tables sums and this has really helped them learn the table. I also like to have family craft night and reading is very important. We read a story and then try to make up another ending.

We use toys like dice to teach math skills. Whoever gets the higher number wins but my son has to count the dots on the dice. He is 4 years old and he can recognize the number of dots by sight now.

The best ways to teach is to sneak it in to fun activities. Like cooking w/ your kids, grocery shopping, etc.
ReplyDeleteReading is also important, you need to read to your child every single day! So important :)

Me and my little sister play "School" since we had to drop out of the preschool (financial issues). She wrote christmas cards to all her friends writing their names on the envelopes! (i just recited her the letters)
ReplyDeleteBut she's only 4 and i'm so proud of her--learning letters and even how to type her own name onto the computer~
I printed out letters (3 at a time) and post them on his bedroom wall. On the page with the letter I put picture. For example Bb I put a picture of a Blue Bike, Blue Backpack ..He loves looking at them and every night before bed he tells me about his letters and picture.
ReplyDeleteWe play educational games frequently :)
ReplyDeleteCongratulations to our School Zone Workbook Winner (Thoughts of a Southern Gal)
