Conversations with a teenager
This is a recent 'conversation' i had with my daughter
Me: How was your day?
Her: Fine
Me: What did you do today?
Her: Went to class
Me: Do you get report cards?
Her: Mom, I'm in college not 5th grade
Me: Oh, that's right. Just checking. Well, don't you get a grade report?
Her: Silence
Me: Huh? Did you hear me?
Her: Silence
Me: Am I talking to myself?
Her: No mom, I just thought you were being funny by asking that crazy question
Me: Well, I didn't think it was a crazy question
Her: Silence
Me: So, how was your day?
Her: Mom! you already asked me that
Me: I know but, you never answered me
Her: I did
Me: What did you say:?
Her: I said it was fine
Me: Oh, yeah that's right
Her: Mom, may I be excused now?
Me: Sure
Don't you love the conversations with teenagers
Then 5 minutes later her cellphone rings and all you could hear was LAUGHING, LOUD MUSIC, LAUGHING, AND TONS OF WHISPERING.
I NEED A HUG.
***SIDEBAR: Just to clear up a few things about this post. My daughter and I have an amazing relationship. I never meant to imply that she is ALWAYS this way. Can you tell she's breathing down my neck to clear her rep up with the quickness? I even got a few emails from people that know her. They said, now you know your daughter would never be sarcastic with you and live to talk about it. Ummm, hello people I need material for my blog. Sarcasm is a good thing sometimes! Geez! See it's not funny anymore!
My daughter, actually tells me alot more than I can handle sometimes (sex, boys, drugs-GASP!!!!!). Yup....She really let's loose with me sometimes and I just sit there and smile on the outside (and CRY inside) that my baby is growing up! I sometimes sit here and say hey, didn't we just sign her up for preschool???? Soo.....please!!! people, don't be afraid that your babies will turn into teenagers that give ONE way conversations. Always, remember, our kids ONLY act the way they are allowed to act. Ok, she's gone out the room now.....IT'S ALL LIES I TELL YOU! TEENAGERS ARE EVIL...Yikes! SHE'S BACK! LOL. Just kidding!

Elcie is heading that way too unless she's the one who starts the conversation.
She's barely 13.
Hi there
I just looked through yr blog after you left a commetn on mine and I have to say that your little man DJ is the MOST adorable kid I have ever seen!!!! Dont cut his hair!! Its gorgeous.
My littel girl is 19months, I dont think that Mackenna is right for him y'know...Now my Sylvie. They would amke a great team. Apart from she likes to pull hair so he may have to have it braided ALL THE TIME???
That song my daughter was singing oon my blog is called 'Youre Beautiful' its by James Blunt. He's british so I dont know if he's at all known in America.
I have had many similar conversations like that with my 15 year old daughter. (((HUGS)))
hugs!! I am so not looking forward to the "teenage years" for the stop in communication!
Oh boy - I guess this is something I'll have to get used to one day!
What I have to look forward to!
Apparently boys are even worse! Your daugher sounds positively communicative compared to my brother at the same age!
You mean... my kids will grow up to be teenagers who won't want to talk to me????
Your son has THE BEST hair I have EVER seen! Don't cut it!
He is sooo cute.
And you and your daughter look so much alike!
oh god. Last week I called up my mom and apologized for taking her for granted for the last 30 years. It had something to do with looking at my little creep and realzing that chances are HE WILL NEVER APPRECIATE ANYTHING I AM DOING FOR HIM FOR THE NEXT 30 YEARS. And that kind of sucks. After reading your post I think I should go call my mom again...
Hey, btw, got your note on flickr! The lost address is The Madcap Adventures of Mama Grouch and The Creep (I am trying out a new name). Great to hear from you!!
((hugs!)) that sounds so typical...and very familiar- wait,I acted like that about 15 years ago!
