What my daughter has taught me

Always have that one friend that you can be yourself and act crazy with!

Here's my daughter and her best friend Cory!

Tons of photos of these two were in our iPhoto Library. I'm suspecting he was here everyday when we were gone on family vacation! It's a good thing he's a nice kid! But, I am beginning to re-think the rules of NO visitors when mom and dad aren't home.

So tell me, do you have any rules about visitors when you're not home??

Well, if my kids were home alone that would be a problem in and of itself! :-)

But, when I was a teenager, the rule was NO FRIENDS when Mom and Dad weren't home. The exception was my friend Jeremy, who might as well have been a member of the family.

That is so sweet that they have such a good friendship!

I say if your home was in the shape (or better than) when you left it ... no harm done?!?!? But I do not have a beautiful teenager at home YET!

I was okay with the boy's friends during the day (I was working and they were teens). With the girls, probably not unless it's other girls and then not until they're older.

I don't leave them now for more than a few minutes. It would be too hard for Elcie to get out if something happened.

My moms rules were no BOYS in the house with the exception of 1 boy. He and I were really close. But he was one of those "good boys" too. hmmm Yeah.. That was 18 years ago and we've now been together for 2 years.

I think it's sweet she has someone like that! To look after her in a sense.

Hmmm, well Aaron's neve rhome by himself, so I haven't made any rules yet, but what a cutie the guy is! I loooove having crazy friends. I think I have one friend who is kinda prissy (she's not allowed to come out with us), and the rest are feckin batty!! I love em to death, ya gotta have craziness in your life...

OH OH, mom watch out! He's quite the good looking one. I'm sure your daughter can be trusted but if it were it were me he'd scream for rape!! Hehehe.. Oops, I'm sorry there I go again. No help whatsoever.

Ok seriously when I was at home, well around that age I was actually allowed to have male company over but I had so much respect for my mom that I would never disrespect her home....*cough* Uhm that sure sounds good!

okay when I was a teen we had the on body when parent aren't home rule, but we broke it so religiously. i remember makin out with a guy (okay three) at my parents house. but my peeps I just hung with we were just hangin. No harm no foul.
Now i got a daughter, and God has a sense of humor I'm sure. I think I would have a per kid case thing going on, her bestest friend - male or female, that's okay. Boyfriend, um not so much. best friend that turns into boyfriend, probably.

p.s Negro D
if you have to state your age - then you ''ve just negated any points you would have gotten for being that age.

Trust me. I still can't get any points for age and I'm 29.

Thanks everyone!

This is a tough one because our daughter is a sweetheart and very responsible. I'm sure she would NEVER disrespect our home. She says, he's just a friend (same thing I told my parents about her dad)--You're right Queue, God does have a sense of humor!

Her friend is a very nice looking and sweet young man but, then again so was my husband at that age, that's how our daughter got here!

Nuff said huh??? LOL

We haven't reached this hurdle yet, but I think I'd be uncomfortable with a teenager (like high school age) having visitors of the opposite sex when I wasn't home.

I wasn't alowed to have boys over without my parents home, and then when they did come over they had to sit in the front room, on uncomfortable furniture. Also, the front room was the only room that didn't have heat, so the guys were cold and uncomfortable. I guess it's the southern way.
