I think i am getting one. Used to be a time where Miles was eating anything that you put in front of his face but now he throws anything that isn't fruit on the floor. I am trying: mashed potatoes, french fries, hotdogs, pudding (he gagged), chicken nuggets, grilled cheese and he wants none of it.Helllllllllllllp!
We usually tie rewards into foods so yea basically it's bribery. Like she can't get dessert or she can't go outside or watch disney channel. You know, hit'em where it hurts! LOL...but seriously though eating habits change like underwear with kids. Just gotta learn to adapt.
I have a picky eater too and it can be really hard. The rule at our house is that you have to at least try the food before you can get down. If you don't like it, you don't have to finish it. We tried the bribery thing too, but it turned into a nightmare later. So now it's take it or leave it. I hope things get easier for you! It's so hard when kids are this age. *hugs*
one eats like a bird and immediately willing to consume high sugar content foods and/or drinks.
the other will not eat anything with "peaches." MEANING that anything that is mixed in with his dish HE WILL NOT EAT. for example, he will NOT eat fried rice because it contains "peaches" which are really peas and carrots. agggrrrhhh!!!
my little one, on the other hand, eats just about anything---even beach sand on her chips (ewww).
Rewards or bribing teaches your child some food is sooo yucky that holding out will prove to be beneficial. The One Bite Rule translates that some food is sooo awful that only one is required. Topping food with ketchup is covering it in sugar--as ketchup is 1/3 sugar. This reinforces that only sweet foods are tasty. I have the answer for you all!!!You can TEACH your child to enjoy whole foods with multi-sensory learning. In my book, "Baby Bites: Transforming a Picky Eater into a Healthy Eater," I help parents transform their picky eaters into healthy eaters. Your picky eater will pick up and eat previously refused in about a week, using the Baby Bite Steps. I have a ton of info available on my website: www.babybites.info Blessings! Nonna Joann Bruso

We put ketchup or have a dipping cup of ketchup for virtually everything. Works like a charm. We also use dessert as an incentive!
I believe in bribery and it is the only thing that works for me. Actually threats work too. All of my children are picky and it is so annoying.
It's amazing what we can get kids to do when we dangle a little carrot in front of them!

I used to use a pair of pliers. Now I can't keep'em away from the dinner table. ;)
Hope you're having a good weekend!
I'm with the non-superwoman--ketchup was a staple in our house. Didn't like what it was? No problem. Get the ketchup and viola! gone!
Ketchup and syrup.
Sometimes ya gotta...ya know?

Girl, don't know what that is like cause my girls are always eating! That pasta looked pretty appetizing!

EVERY.DANG.DAY! I don't- I truly expect him top starve or eat one day.
My son has started shoving food down his throat so gag himself and throw up so he won't have to finish eating. I don't know what to do about that!
Just that little nudge is ALL he needed. Mason wold want to eat the popcicle before he would eat the pasta. (my lil brat!)
