(hey, that's the only way I can get him to go take a nap sometimes)
DJ: No, I'm a big boy!! No Naps!!!
Me: Big Boys take Naps!
DJ: No, I'm a big boy!! No Naps!!!
Me: Ok, since you're a big boy, you're NOT going to wear diapers anymore right?
(i try to bring up potty training in everyday conversation)
DJ: No, I'm brushing my teeth!
Me: Silence.
I mean really what do you say to that?
I tried to change the subject and he changed the subject too! Haha!!
I love this kid.

Question: What are your secrets to getting your kids to nap? Do your kids nap?
Do you nap? At what age did you realize your babies were growing up faster than you were ready for them to grow up?

I have a 20yo daughter who is getting married in Oct. Also, 18yo son, 16yo son and a 21 month old son. Naps are precious around here. My youngest still takes one nap a day usually for 2-3 hours. Because I work from home I need him to nap so I can get work done. When it's time for nap I just tell him "naptime", pick him up and put him in bed. Some kids just aren't good nappers tho so you may be stuck.
Good luck
DJ is the cutest! Although I don't have children I frequently take naps. Me and sleep are tight, bff's we go way back!
only my daughter was a napper. I would doze beside them while they watched tv (I'm a light sleeper). Naps are delicious.
I have a three year old and she still have to take a nap.If she don't take a nap she get to acting like a crying diva. This house can't take all that!!!!
He made a very valid point! Gotcha! :)
LOL!!!
DJ is the cutest! (LOL)
"No, Im gonna brush my teeth!" (LOL)
He, uh...did have a point though!! HaHa...
*~*THANKS FOR STOPPING BY*~* ;D
You are totally going to hate me, but Luke(5) still likes to sleep 14 hours a day. If he chooses not to nap- fine, he'll be in bed by 6 or 7 pm. He actually asks to go to bed. David never slept!!! Wonder why my boys are so far apart? had to catch up on sleep!
Hey, my kiddo is younger than yours, so I have no advice.
But, I did want to say this: gosh, I just love nap time.
:)
You ask questions that I don't know anything about. I take naps after..Never mind.
*keeping it clean, this is so hard*
Morning T!
Now that I think about it, none of my children were that big on napping which is weird since I can fall asleep as soon as my head hits a pillow lol.
Good Morning everyone! Thank you for the comments and feedback.

Pray for me please!!!!!!!!!!!
p.s. *waving* at DL you are a nut! LOL
you're keeping it clean, i am so proud of you :)
I was very frustrated as well with potty training. When I was researching potty training a common theme seemed to be praise and positive reinforcement. I came across a website called www.pottytrainingrewards.com. We hung it in the kitchen and named the little boy on the front of the package, Bobby. My son could not wait to go to the potty so he could push the button, hear the praising message, and get his chocolate reward from, Bobby. It really got my son excited about using the potty himself and it was fun for him. Because he became so involved, potty training was easy. So give it a try. Good Luck!!
hey! thanks for bragging on us! your little boy is ADORABLE. it's crazy when they outsmart you...my son is only 17 mo. old and does it ALL THE TIME! lol
Only 2? LOL. It is way different raising a two-year old these days. LOL. How was your daughter at this age?
I laugh cause sometimes it is so cute how these lil ones know so much, actually too much at such a young age. Smh.
I'm still single, Tanyetta and of no help on this one. But your son is humorous!
I know the feeling. I have had the same conversation way too many times. Thanks for stopping by to check out my blog.
Love it. I tell my oldest that is is "time to take a rest." He has to spend at least 30 minutes relaxing on his bed. I tell him if we don't rest a little during the day, then we don't have enough energy to play in the evening. Usually he rarely makes it 20 minutes before he falls asleep.
That boy is goooood!
I don't have any toddlers, but my sister's two toddlers (2 1/2 and 1 1/2) have different nap styles. Her 2 1/2 must be prepared like 30 minutes in advance for his nap, whereas her 1 1/2 year old goes down as soon as your mention it to him. Her 3 month old, of course, is just on his own napping schedule!

I tell her she has to take a snoozer, everyone in the house is going to take a snoozer. I put cardboard in the window and tell her to SHUSH. She stays there about an hour, if she falls asleep she falls asleep. If not, it's a long day.
I put on slow music, usually some latin music, turn off the tv, and than it is my daughters nap time. At least for 30 minutes.
Three is when the napping gets a little dicey. I think DJ is almost three. Tell him it is quiet time and he has to stay in his room for one hour. Set a timer where he can see it. Sometimes he will fall asleep. If he does, quick! Turn off the timer! Thanks for the link, Tanyetta. You're my hero.
All of my kids started slowing down on naps at 2.5 (Macey right now!) and by 3 it was kindof over with me holding on. I do quiet time still with them. We cleared out Macey's whole room except her bed and books (so it was nice and safe) and then we close the door and she can't get out. If she sleeps, great! If not, at least I got a little break. Thanks for the wave/link!
I don't have children, but my niece stayed me a lot when she was little. Being a single person, I made sure lil miss busy took her naps when ever she came over, so I could take a break ya know.
The only thing that worked is if I layed down next to her. Now sometimes I would end up falling asleep myself hehehe, but for the most part she was out in under five minutes.
That was SO hilarious!!!
