Major Changes.

Warning: This post has nothing to do with Playdates, Kids, Playgrounds or anything related to my family so, if you're here to read something of that nature today, keep it moving. nothing.much.to.see.here! I've decided to change up the pace a bit and discuss something that has been on my mind for a minute!

Around the beginning of the year, I took a LONG LONG look and had a little self talk with myself in the mirror. N.a.k.e.d. I realized that Childbirth takes your body through MAJOR changes. MAJOR! Changes! Well, Nursing until your kid can pretty much spell the body part didn't help one bit either! Yikes! How the heck do you GAIN weight AFTER you have a baby? How do you dress so super cute when you're pregnant then when you have the baby, you decide that sweats and baggy t-shirts are the new fad of your choosing? Don't bother answering that. I know the answer. These are just a few thoughts that went through my mind while I was checking myself out in mirror!

Then I decided to look down to see if I could see my toes. Guess what, I couldn't. Now, this might sound crazy to most but, I never thought about the fact that I couldn't look down and see my toes without bending over. You try it. I'll wait. Get up, Stand up Straight and look down. Can you see your toes? Don't answer that. I'll take your word for it.

Well, Enough was Enough for me. I decided to MOVE more and to try and EAT LESS crap! I can tell you that it's been a struggle but, I'm not going to give up. I'm happy to report, I can see my toes now! Yeah! What a great feeling. Now, my next goal:
I want to be able to see my special spot when I look down too!
OMG what did she just say?????????? I know you're saying, What did she just say! Yeah, you READ correctly!! Hah!!!!!!!! I want to be able to see my special spot when I stand up and look down!!! Now, that's some TMI for you! If you're offended, you can't say you weren't warned early on!
You decided to stroll over here so, you get what you get! Hah!
And, IF you NEVER come back, I'll understand! :) I'll still love you like a play cousin too!

I'm down 20 pounds and I have about 20 more to go. I am NOT going to stress myself over this. I just refuse to compare myself to the air brushed foolishness all up on the magazines at the supermarket. You know the same place that sells my favorite chocolate chip cookies. I was dead wrong for making friends with the Baker and now I can request a batch just the way I like them. And you wonder why the last 20 pounds are still stuck on my thighs. *sigh* And I will shoot myself before I look like THIS.

I would post a BEFORE and AFTER photo but, I just went through my photos and I'm cussing my husband out for not telling me I looked like Orca.

You see how I'm good at passing my faults onto others? Like it was his fault that I was stuffing my face and frequenting the Buffets on a regular. *sigh*

Question: How do you stay fit? Do you exercise, run, or are you just blessed to wake up and look fabulous without MUCH effort? What are your secrets to staying focused? Do you have any healthy snacks I can replace with the cookies? And if you say almonds I will kick you. I don't like Almonds ok? :)

in January, I started Body for Life. In short, it's an eating program (low fat, veggies and eating six times a day) and exercise ERRRR DAY! (except Sun). So now I'm working out for the first time in 20 years.

I was gonna say almonds (blue diamond smoked), but since you might commit murder, I also do the low carb slim fast chocolate shakes. They also supress the appetite.

Hi. You are my first blogging friend. Happy to meet you. I am not in the mood to lose weight (nursing baby, but really no excuse), but my sister tried the new diet drug alli the other day and almost crapped her pants about five times. Sixty bucks down the toilet, literally.

You look to be in pretty good shape in the pic. Keep up the good work. Your tummy looks flat to me.
A snack I have everyday is an apple. Curbs my appetite for a lil while.

Let me tell you what I think has helped me recently and THEN I'll tell ya what I USED to do.

The big thing for me, I believe is SLEEP. I read all this stuff online about how lots of sleep aids in losing weight.

Oh and also, the more you're asleep the less you're awake eating crap.

;-)

So, I'm sleeping a lot right now and I think it's helping.

Now, two years ago when I was young and hot (24 years old)I was working out six days a week. Half an hour of yoga and about 45 minutes of cardio on the elliptical. But um... that was pre-depression. I'm slowly building back up to that.

So in short my tips are...SLEEP (which I know may be hard since you're a mommy..but try it!), and if you have access to an elliptical, that thing burns calories BIG TIME. Plus it's easier on your joints than the treadmill.

Congrats on losing all that weight. You look fab in that picture. I am another one who has gained weight since having Joey and I guess it is time I did something about it as well. I am hoping that just being out of the house and away from the snacks will help and I am going to try and walk home from the station in the evenings rather than getting the bus as I figure that will help. Seeing your picture has inspired me!

Fitness is important to me because I don't want to huff and puff up an aunt hill at like age 45.

I hate Gyms so I walk to work and back everyday (about 30 min total) and I walk everywhere that is in walking distance. I take the stairs when I can. I take the Buchela out for a walk.

We also eat pretty healthy at my house. We have made a habit of going out for desserts which means we don't have them at home.

So, if I feel like a chocolate ice cream, we walk to a cafe and have some.

I love that.

When I first started reading this post...all I kept saying was "Well". This is truth. I dont really work out...and I eat whatever I want....and YES my body looks like it! I am having back to back children...so I am super concerned with what the 'after' will look like. My body held up fairly well after the first...but there are a few pieces of meat that are just NOT where they were! And I am making a plan for after this child...I do not want to be one of those BIG mamas all out of breath--telling the kids to sit down cuz she dont want to chase them! But I am on my way...So I cant wait to see what good ideas people write. GREAT POST!

And 20 lbs. is an awesome accomplishement. I have never really lost that much without fasting. You are such an inspiration!

I just started my work out again, I'm trying to get my 25yr old body back. I was walking, jogging and taking more meat out of my diet.

I also included an herbal cleanse which really helped me lose a few pounds within days.

Good luck, homie. You are well on your way to success.

You look great, I'm not just saying that either. I am with Celia Fae, I am SOOO not in the mood to loose weight. But I am finding that since I have been staying home I have been eating less... I don't know why. And I am more active, running around after Gav.
When I was working in an office, I was always the one with the snacks in their desk drawer. I was like the go to person for some M&M's because I would just snack all day, and I didn't like paying vendor machine prices.

You look great in the picture. For me I just try and make sure I eat breakfast, eat small snacks throughout the day so I never get hungry, and move. Walk the dog, park far away, and all that. I also work out with a trainer 3 days a week. Trying to say in the habit so when I am blessed with a baby I don't go completely down hill, which I hear is so easy to do.

One of my favorite snacks is a Soy Chocolate and Bananna Smoothie. I use 8 ounces of 8th Continent Lite Soy Chocolate Milk, a whole medium size bannana (you can add strawberries if you like) a bit if ice, in the blender, and it is yummy. If you are exercising you can also add a bit of pure protein powder (but only if you are working out).

Hope this helps!!!

20 lbs! Awesome. I know I need to lose about 15. I don't work out at all. I don't eat alot.

I can say if I upped my water intake and walked like I used to I could easy drop 10 lbs. My hobby of reading and Net surfing has cut my exercise. I do miss walking. *sighing*

Good Morning! Thank you everyone for your comments and suggestions. It's a Journey and it sounds like I'm not alone on this one. I read somewhere that you have to EAT to lose weight. Who in the world came up with that? I guess it makes sense it's all in what we eat right? :)

I'm looking forward to reading more comments and suggestions. Ask your friends, see what we can come up with.

p.s. Celia Fae you are a nut! --LOL

Sixty bucks down the toilet literally. EWwwwww....I read the side effects of Alli were oily and runny stools and I knew I could NOT go down that path. So not cute! :)

I have not been blessed yet to have a child however when I started to loose weight last year I noticed that it was staying off because I was walking more...taking the stairs..drinking more water.

Hopefully when I have children that will continue LOL..we'll see

GOOD FOR YOU! That's a great accomplishment. I know you'll be able to finish to your goal in no time. I'm tired of being up and down and am trying really hard to get back down and stay there.

It is important to eat throughout the day. Even Dr Ian says so. You remember him right? Oh wait, it was Harvey you liked. :)

Here are the snacks I eat:
celery and natural pb
yogurt w/o HFCS and 100 cal or less
string cheese
berries

Keep it up lady!

You look great and it's good you decided to take control and be proactive about your health.

I have PCOS (Polycystic ovaries) so losing weight is really difficult so I have to work twice as hard as the average person but I'm on my way...

I have to eat more protein and less carb which must be life's joke on me because boy do I love my carbs...I trick myself by actually saying the words "this has sugar and sugar is poison to my body so moderate!"

I hate to excercise so I con myself by saying "I'm just going out for a walk" and then actually job once I'm out and about!LOL I started hitting my husband's punching bag and this is toning my arms. So walking, some swimming and punching a bag is my daily excercise.

I stay focused by lying to myself (see above) - I tell myself I ONLY have to walk and then I jog or I ONLY have to get out to the pool but then I swim!

Keep up the good work...I too am working up to being able to see my special place!LOL

GIRL....YOU LOOK FABULOUS--Let me get THAT out the way right now.

Can't give you many pointers on losing any weight since I'm struggling with this issue myself but I know you have to do what works for you.

LOL @ How do you gain weight after having a baby.

You crack me U-P!!! :-D

You tryna see your stuff?!?!? LAWWWWD. And I thought I was bad. You're making progress. 20 lbs is niiiiiiice homie. Just keep it up. As for me, I'm back in the gym and I even started running (I can't stand running) but oddly enough it's relaxing...

You know I noticed how skinny you were getting and was going to ask you if you'd been doing anything but of course it slipped my mind. You are looking fabulous- congrats on your success!

You look great woman! Like I told you before you looked like you lost weight. I am on my way to fitness. I have lost only 5 lbs in 2 weeks just by cutting out my daily Starbucks fraps. Can you believe it.
I'm like you. Why didn't the husband tell me something. And to take this TMI a little further, how in the world does he find me sexy. Not only that but sexy enough to want to get busy every night? I am blessed to have a husband like I do. I am not with the magazines either. I think it would be fair to get to my pre-pregnancy weight. And for that I have 15 lbs to go.
Good Luck. I know it's not easy as I needed my fraps sometimes twice a day.

I was actually going to post my little ticker on my blog for support and I think I will as you have inspired me.

oops, I forgot to add that I agree about the elliptical which is why we invested in a good one. That is what I am doing right now although not consistantly. I need to be though. It does burn calories like you won't believe I get to see the Carbs burned also.

I have arthritis in my knees in addition to my shoulders and elbows and this is way better than a threadmill. Less pressure on the knees. It's great. again I thank my husband for his support and credit card...hehehe
