I kept the name of the woman's store from the box and card she wrapped the gifts for DJ in.
I decided to send her a picture and a card (hoping she would remember us) to say thank you! I mentioned to her that Darrin was home and we would make a trip down there to see her soon.
Well, guess what happened? She sent this in the mail along with the photo.
She said, of course she remembers us and she's been waiting to hear the good news of Darrin's return. She also said the reason she returned the picture, it's good luck to return a photo. Her name is Katerine. She is the sweetest woman.
I called to thank her and she said, bring that baby to me so I can give him a hug and a kiss.
I promised to make the trek down to see her real soon.
What a sweet sweet woman.
Question: Did a complete stranger ever do something really nice for you or your family? Have you ever done the same thing?

Good deeds that come from the heart are always returned. Good for you!
I have a couple of wonderful stories about the kindness of strangers but they're too long for a comment box.
Since I knew I'd never see any of them again, I try to pay it forward.
Oh nice! I like to pay it forward too, always! it helps me remember that there are more good people in the world than the other variety.
The blessings are flowin' in your direction. Alleluia!
I truly believe that the kindness of others is a reflection of your giving. It's evident that you display a giving and sweet spirit, and folk are drawn to that.
Moreover, I believe God has used this opportunity and others to translate the power of love and giving.
This woman has been obviously touched by DJ and God is sharing this special gift -- your son -- with others outside your family.
Giving is in my blood, spirit, and heart on a continual basis!
When I was a single mom of my four girls, someone from their school brought presents and dropped them off on my doorstep at Christmas. Not just a few but many. I think there were three large garbage bags full of toys, clothes, craft stuff, and even some things for me. And there were gift certificates. At that time I had nothing and was struggling to keep my kids housed and feed. It was just one of the many ways the Lord took care of us during that time, but it still brings me to tears to think about the generosity of someone who will never get a face-to-face thank you from my girls and I.
I stopped a few weeks ago to pick up a young man that had ran out of gas and was late for work. Took him to the gas station and back to his car. Pay it Forward, I yelled, and then drove off. The other day, cause it's getting dark early now, this little ole lady was sitting at the bus stop. I picked her up. She lived in the complete opposite side of time. But giiirl, that lil fiesty thing had me cracking up on the drive home. That woman told me she was going to get her a white man with money. Now she was busting all of 65/70. Then she told me all men want is a woman that can cook, clean and have sex. I almost wrecked laughing at her. Words of wisdom from the wise and fiesty.
Let me tell you what I think, Tanyetta. I think what you have is a very special son. He's gonna do great things, that boy. He's gonna change the world. You watch.
Aww I thought things like that only happen in movies! Just from reading your blog I get a good vibe about Californians.
This is really small but it meant a lot to me. I have a cold and while I was waiting for my flight I started coughing. The lady I was sitting next to me, without saying a word, handed me a ricola cough drop.
Despite the fact that I had a a whole bag of Ricola cough drops in my bag, this one act of kidness made me feel so much better about the world.
Quite a warm and fuzzy post to start my New Year off, and to think about paying it forward in a multitude of ways. I was struck by the kindness of an anonymous $100 gift delivered via certified mail in 2006 and it was brought to my memory, how special truly random acts are. Thanks for sharing your experience.
