DJ and I were invited to a Deepawali/Diwali event. We had a great time.
I'm always curious to learn of other cultures and events.
DJ didn't get the memo on sharing with friends.
As you can see from his face, he was NOT happy to share. I wanted to tell him, if you bring it to playgroup, then you have to be ready to share with playgroup. He was NOT having it.
Jai is serious about his crafts too!
Menu:
Vadai (little savory donuts made of ground lentils)
Samosa (Puff pastry filled with spicy potatoes and peas), with Coriander and Tamarind/Date Chutneys
Murg Saag (Chicken and spinach curry)
Naan (Indian flat breads (fluffy when I don't burn them!))
Somph (candy coated fennel seeds)
The "crafts" were Rangoli, colorful rice powder (chalk) drawings and paper flower garlands.
I am wearing a Saree and DJ is wearing a Kurta. Please forgive me if I've messed up the names of the outfits. This was my first event and I tried to remember every element.

Fun times for everyone! Thank you again for inviting us. WE had a blast.

Yay for culture! You did not butcher any of the Indian words, good girl! Love your ethnic outfits. DJ, where was your world famous smile? You gotta share buddy!
I think it is so important for every person to get to know at least a little something about different cultures. We are never to old to learn something new.
It looks like a really fun event. You are truly a great mom. I love reading how you plan really nice events and expose you son to many different things.
Awwwww! It looks like y'all had a great time. And all the kid looked so cute.
You guys stay busy!
P.S. You've been tagged!
You look cute in your Saree. You're are just FABULOUS, honey!...experiencing new things/cultures while also exposing your son to them as well. That's what's up!

how fun. and great exposing dj to other cultures! yay you!
You guys are so well rounded!
You did fine with the outfit wording. Is there anything you don't look great in woman? I couldn't help but laugh at DJ's expression in the photo when he obviously didn't wish to share. I know how it is. Sometimes I don't even want to share with my own kids but I must!
Oh how I miss Diwali back home. I had a red Sari too for my dad and his side of the family.
Oh man Naan bread I miss. Hope you ate enough for me :-) That stuff is dangerous as far as I am concerned because to me it's like Pringles, you can't stop.
Love indian food! my kids do too thank goodness because we stay eating it!
You guys looks so cute!
You guys look great! Exposing DJ to other cultures and traditions is a good thing.
