As you can recall, my son is in Tiny Tots. It's a 3 year old class at the local community center. His homework is a coloring page of the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and a summary on how to work with our kids to explain about Dr. Kings Dream.
Here's part 1:
Me: Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. had a dream.
DJ: Dr. Lightnin McQueen had a dream
Me: No, let's try that again. It's Dr. Martin Luther King, JR had a dream.
DJ: Dr. Lightnin McQueen Martin had a dream
Me: No, let's try that again. Put on your listening ears. Dr. Martin Luther King, JR had a dream.
DJ: Pause, Pause, Martin Luther King, JR had a dream
Me: *Thinking to myself* I think the Dr. part confuses him. It's a lot for a 3 year old to say.
I'll be back. We're still working on his project. I hoped to have it for video but, the sound of Dr. causes my son to reflect on his favorite DVD.
Now do you see why I have to limit his TV watching?
I'm working with him to say: Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. had a dream that all people would live in peace.
I think that's a start for a 3 year old that can't sit still or cross his legs.
Stay tuned.
