He threw the rock at the Giant.

My son really loves to hear stories from this book:

We've read most of the stories in the book. A few that stand out to me right now:

*the really short man climbing up a tree to see Jesus (please bear with me. i am learning along with my son so, the names of most of these people escape my thoughts)

*a boy who thought he heard his guardian calling him over and over again but, only to find out it was really God calling his name

*a lady that lost her coin. she looked all over to find this one coin even though she had a lot of coins. she needed to find that one coin. the story explained this is how God feels about us. Even though he has a lot of children, he never wants to lose any of them and he wants to find them.

Once he finds all of his children, he will be happy. My son likes this story and asks for me to read it more than once. I often ask him to tell me the story (only because I don't want to sound boring by reading the same thing over and over again. What? I'm the only one?)

This is the story I usually try to end with. It's a happy ending type of story. My son doesn't allow to get off the hook that easily.

Out of all the really interesting stories, we've read in this book, my son always requests the story of the boy that threw the rock at the Giant.

He scans the entire book until he comes to this story and stares at the photos and tells the story in his own version of course.

Why must my son always request the story of violence? I know the story ends on a happy note but, his main focus is the boy throwing the rock at the Giant. I've told him the official name of the story but, in his 3 year old mind, it is what it is to him. Hah!

There are so many more stories in this book but, this is the story that has caught his attention the most. I wonder if this has anything to do with the fact that he loves to bonk his friends on the head at playgroup.

Question: Do you have this book at home? What are some of your kids favorite stories from the book?

boys like the "fighting" stories.
I remember I said, no guns (not even squirt guns) and that lasted until they were old enough to pick up a stick and use it like a gun.

Probably DJ’s courageous spirit draws him to the story of David and Goliath.

My daughter and I sing about Zacchaeus in the sycamore tree from her VHS tape of Cedarmont Kids.

Good stuff!
