Decisions, Decisions in 6 days!

My birthday is coming up.
In 6 days, I will turn another year older.
It freaks me out. Just a little. Not a lot. Yet.
My family asked what I wanted for my birthday and (Other than wanting to have another baby, hubby says no) I drew a blank.
I'm not hard to please.
Dinner with the family and some lip gloss.
I can't help but to wonder what the other ALMOST 40 ladies out there have done to celebrate their birthdays.
I need some help. I want do something fun and exciting but, I can't come up with anything that I really want or need.
Question: What exciting and fun ways did you celebrate the big day?

I think the best gift I gave myself when I turned 40 was to put myself higher up the rung on care. I call it the f-it forties. I finally lost weight and took up some things I really wanted to do.

Also, I think that's about the time I discovered wigs and insta-weave.

My DH took me to NYC & Niagara Falls. But since you have a little one, I'm sure you can't leave for so long. WHen the girls were little, we would have a family day and a just me & DH day. Even if it's just one day. We drive up to Naples, rent a hotel, enjoy the beach, go to dinner & maybe a show. We party till the we hours (around 12AM for us :) )

I'm boring - I dont' expect a lot for my birthday - mostly because since we share a bank account, anything HE buys is really something WE buy. So I guess I agree with Katie - time to myself is completely priceless!!

I am all for a little trip or get-away. That is what I want every year! Tell him to plan a little surprise local vacation for you two! And Happy B-day! You look so cute in that picture.

I guess I am the wrong woman to ask because the only thing that I would want is to eat out with the family. That's it!

I hadn't really celebrated my birthday for several years until I turned 40 and 41. For those birthdays I decided to go to NY and see broadway plays. It was great!

Good luck with that girl. Only thing I did for my 40th was go out with the girls. I had a blast though! HAPPY PRE-BORN DAY CHICA!

How about a weekend vacation? Taking the kids would be your choice.

Hmmm! What are your interests? What do you enjoy? I say start there and I'm sure something will come to mind. I feel you though. When I'm put on the spot like that I have no idea what to say that I want/want to do....

I've been lurking for awhile now and I love your site. One year my honey & kids took me to a resturant here in Maryland call Blair Mansion (Murder/Mystery Dinner Theater) we had the best time. So, my vote will be find a Murder/Mystery dinner theater.

spa treatments! I also love to have dinner with my husband. Nothing too fancy...just time alone.

Happy early birthday!

oh man! i never know what i want and I don't really like my birthday- kind of depressing with getting older and a little over rated. I guess truly, the last 2 years i've wanted a new baby (one of my dreams to adopt) so my new babies have basically been my b-day, Christams, mother's day, valentines and every other holiday gift for the last 2 years! This year I'll have to think of something- I'm with Leigh- pamper yourself in some way!

p.s. i meant to type "Christmas" and you do look so pretty in your pic. You look a lot younger than almost 40. happy b-day!!

LOL @ "Other than wanting to have another baby, hubby says no." As for your bday? I don't know. I'm turning 30 in the next few months, and I'm planning to go to Vegas.

Nothing says I love and Happy Birthday like a new handbag.
(smiles) Weren't you drooling over an expensive purse like 100 posts back?

My standard birthday gift is a day off. That means no getting anyone up, no picking up anything, and completely taking a leisurely day to go to the spa, manicurist, anywhere that pleases my fancy without any little people tagging along. Whatever you do make sure its fabulous!

One of the sweetest b-day celebrations I've ever been too was this past October. It wasn't for me (ha!) but for my girlfriend. It was about 9 of us sans the kiddos. We went to a really nice seafood restaurant. It was the fellowship that meant the world to all of us. Just being in each others company reminiscing about the past, touching on the present and looking forward to the future as friends. Yeah, sounds boring, but I'm simple to please.
