so i'm pushing my son in the swing and this kid comes out of no where (he looks about 3 or 4) and goes to walk right in front of where my son is swinging.
my motherly instinct kicks in and i grabbed the boy out of the way but in turn push him down.
well, needless to say the momma was NOT HAPPY!!!!!!
i apologized and say i'm so sorry, i was trying to save him from getting hit by the swing. she just mean mugged me the entire time. by then I knew she was pissed so I start to just ignore her. you know me.....go on about what i'm doing...keeping an eye on her just in case she wanna feel froggy and stuff.
LOL
my friend was there with me and said--hey look, she saved your son from getting clobbered from the swing.
Miss girlfriend grabs her son and leaves. She mumbled something on her way out...
Bwaaaaaaah!!!!!!!!!!! I yelled out to her: YOU'RE welcome!!!!!!!<<---very mature of me. I know. LOL
I should have listened to my husband when he told me to take the day off and let him take DJ to the park!
Fun times.
Needless to say my friend was still PISSED that I even saved the little kid. She said I would have just let him get hit. It's NOT true. As mother's we just have that instinct in us. I think.--- Oh well..we all live and learn.

FWIW I woulda did the same thing..I've been to the park and had my dd get hit by a swing and the parent just stood there watching...It wasnt till i was flying over there to pick up my dd (all while giving this woman the evil eye) that she finally pretended to try and help...I'll bet that lady felt convicted later that day :-) You did good mama..some people just don't have that mama instinct ;-p
You did good. Just think you probably saved her a visit to the doctor's office and money out of her pocket.
Sometimes doing the right thing can bring down the wrath of Godzilla.
And it's not that you had the time to consider the pros and cons: it was either act quickly, or allow an unfortunate accident.
I'm finding that parents are guarding their kids with an overzealous sensitivity: suing in court for what my parents would have thanked them for in my day.
Could it be that mass media in its crusade to keep kids safe from predators are responsible for this sensitivity?
A certain level of caution and awareness is always warranted, but it has to be done with prudence, and a healthy dose of commonsense.
You can never win at the playground - I've come to find. If you had let the kid get hit, you would have felt horrible (although he would have learned NOT to walk in front of swings) and because you grabbed him and the mom got upset, you still feel horrible.
Never can win.
She was probably embarrassed that she wasn't watching her kid better.
Mothers sometimes need a refresher course from preschool. "Remember how to be nice even when you don't get your way!"
I'm not a mother and aI definitely would've gotten the child out of the way.
The real question is: what was the mama doing while her child was about to be body checked by the swing?
