Pink stuff is ONLY for girls. Really?

Little boy comes over to our table to put on DJ's friend's PINK boots. The boots are super big on him and he's sloshing around the floor with the boots on.

I chuckle and say, awwww...too cute.

The mom runs over and SNATCHES the boots off and throw them under the table.

My friend says, awwww he liked the boots. They're only boots.

The mom says, NO THEY'RE PINK boots and PINK isn't ok for boys to wear!

I noted her 'attitude' about the dang on boots and decided to just mute further dialogue with her.

My friend says, awww he's a baby, he doesn't know the difference.

The other mom says, He's young enough to learn that Boys don't wear pink and she stomps off.

Yeah, I guess she told us.

I know I had a big stress about whether to do a Dora party or not but I have no issues with dressing Joey in pink or purple if that is what he wanted. Pink and purple are my absolute favourite colours though so my mates tease me endlessly when I put Joey in purple!! Putting too much emphasis on "pink is for girls" and "blue is for boys" is very boring and no fun at all!!

Does she not know that real men wear pink?? I bought Dwayne a pink polo shirt and he looks good in it! He hates it but the ladies make lots of comments so he deals with it for that reason!

You should've told her that the boots were Salmon, not pink. *SMH*
A homophobe in the making :-(

I know the attitude very well! I've had many an encounter with parents with this attitude while I was working in headstart. The parents just don't get it! Let the children be children and when they are older let them decide what roles they want to play in life.

I can't believe she was soooo dramatic about it...

I mean...it's only a color for crying out loud!!!

[She really needs to loosen up]!!!
