Just let him help as much as he wants to and praise him a whole lot when he does. Show him how appreciative you are of his big brother skills when he helps out and it could be anything. Small things like getting a diaper and wipes from the corner of the room. Or a burp cloth for the baby. Yes it seems small but you and I both know how helpful that is when you don't want to get up. Maybe Darrin could get him a small gift from baby Gracen, if he hasn't already done that, thanking him for being a big brother.

I don't get to check in too often so I was very happy to see your new arrival. Congratulations!! I am so happy for you and your family. I pray that God continues to bless you.

Awesome! Does he have the "I'm a Big Brother" t-shirt?

Include him in everything...send him to grab a diaper...ask him what outfit he thinks his sister should wear...let him help with her bath. It makes them feel so big and involved.

Awwwwww..my heart goes out to DJ. I can imagine the what the lil guy is feeling. But this too shall pass.

I had horrible nightmares about this situation when I was pregnant with the baby. A lady from my church recommended Mommy n son "dates" which we still do today. I absolutely love that time with my older son and we get to do whatever he wants for a couple of hours. In the beginning it was a weekly thing. Now it's a monthly or every 6 week thing. It can be something as small as going to the park or talking a walk outside or something a lot bigger. Our last "date" was to see Disney on Ice. We always have a blast and my older son looks forward to our little one on one time.

The only advice I have is to include him, whether it's a bath or helping to feed her. I made the mistake of treating my middle child like glass, and like everyone (but me) had cooties. Not a nice start for his Big Sister.

I think that it is awesome that your husband is taking time with him that should help. That is what my husband did and it helped my son a lot. I would also make sure he is a part of helping take care of Gracen as well. :)

How nice! I'm sure he very much enjoyed the special breakfast and his new pet fish too :o) It took my nephew (age 4) a few weeks to stop telling others that they should "give THAT baby back to his Mother" or to "Put THAT baby down" (of course he asked this so that you could then pay attention to him... ;o) it took a few weeks but then he finally started calling his brother by his name and not "THAT baby" :o) Just takes some time.... ;)
