Why I'm always the last one to find out

My daughter's job was robbed at gunpoint last week. I just found out about it yesterday. Don't worry, she was OFF work that day but, still.

Here's how I found out:

Husband: (very calm tone) you know our daughter's job was robbed the other day

Me: WHAT????ROBBED????ARE YOU KIDDING ME? WHEN DID THIS HAPPEN??

Husband: A while ago

Me: A WHILE AGO?? WHAT DOES A WHILE AGO MEAN? WHEN DID THIS HAPPEN??? WHAT HAPPENED HOW DID IT HAPPEN? DID ANYONE GET HURT? OMG!!!!!!!

Husband: It was her day off. She wasn't there. The guy walked in and very calmly asked for all the money in the cash register.

Me: WHAT THE HECK IS UP WITH THAT? ROBBING A SHOE STORE? IS HE FOR REAL? THIS IS CRAZY! I CANNOT BELIEVE THIS HAPPENED. AND WHY ARE YOU JUST TELLING ME THIS?

Husband: Everyone's ok. He only got away with $100. The safe is on a delay. They're only allowed to keep a certain amount of money in the register. Everything's fine.

ME: EVERYTHING'S FINE? EVERYTHING'S FINE? WHAT IF OUR DAUGHTER WAS WORKING THERE, WHAT IF SHE GOT SHOT, WHAT IF THIS TURNED OUT DIFFERENTLY? SHE NEEDS TO QUIT. IT'S NOT SAFE THERE! NOW DO YOU SEE WHY I TELL HER I HATE WHEN SHE WORKS LATE. NOW I'M GOING TO BE UP ALL NIGHT WORRYING IF SHE'S OK WHEN SHE'S WORKING THERE. THIS IS CRAZY! GETTING ROBBED AT GUNPOINT!! OMG! WHEN SHE GETS HOME, I'M TELLING HER TO QUIT THAT JOB!

Husband: Now do you see why we hesitate to tell you things? You're overreacting, things like this happen all the time. You can get robbed going to the ATM, you can get robbed driving in your car, I almost got shot on the rifle range the other day. Freakish things happen everyday.

Me: YOU ALMOST GOT SHOT AT THE RIFLE RANGE? WHAT? BY WHOM? T.I. AND THE MACHINE GUNS?? WHY ARE YOU JUST NOW TELLING ME THIS? WHY IS EVERYONE KEEPING SECRETS FROM ME? WHY WASN'T I TOLD ABOUT THIS ALMOST GETTING SHOT AT BUSINESS BEFORE?

Husband: *sigh*
