Hummus violated my tastebuds again!

As many of you already know, my son LOVES the Farmer's Market. It's the one place where he can roam freely sampling all sorts of different foods and flavors.

I'm not a fan of hummus. Yes, I've tried it and I can honestly say it's not for me. My son on the other hand, LOVES it. He and daddy will scoop up heaps of it onto a pita chip and will make the yummmmmm sound each and every time.

Are you kidding me? Did I miss something? Maybe my taste buds were off the last few times I tried it. I figured what the heck, I'll try it again. I tried it again and once again the hummus violated my taste buds.

Needless to say, I always make sure my son never sees my adverse reactions to foods that I don't like. Especially since he's a picky eater, I wouldn't want to take the chance of depriving him from some delicious decadence that's waiting out there in the world just because his momma cannot control her yuck factor when it comes to certain foods.

Perfect example,

There was a red pepper on the counter which was supposed to be for the stir fry later on tonight. My son bites into the red pepper like it was an apple. YIKES!
I couldn't believe this kid. Here he is eating a red pepper like it's cool.

Instead of freaking out, I sliced it up and put it on the side with some ranch and he was happy as can be. Of course, I'm sitting there faking like I'm eating them with him. One slice for him, None for me. Two slices for him, None for me. Hahaha!

Question: What foods do your kids LOVE and you HATE or don't really care for?

It's not like it was Gin and Juice

Scene: Indoor playground area
DJ and I are sitting at the snack tables and as usual, the tables are filled with other moms and kids. No problem. I can mix and mingle.

Here's where things got a little ummmmmm.....

Me: Is anyone sitting here?
Her: No, it's free. You can sit there.
*we're having small talk--what's your kids name, age, you know the usual*

Then I pull out DJ's lunch
Turkey Sandwich
Cheese Stick
Cherry Tomatoes
Juice Box

Then she busts out with:

I don't allow my daughter to drink Juice.

*dead*

After that, the conversation just went downhill.

What was the purpose of her telling me this? Did she want to rub in my face that her kid was drinking from a water bottle?

Rosemarie over at Miscellaneous Matters posted about Motherhood!

I wish I had this quick comeback today! Oh how lovely it would have been to say this with gusto and pride.

"This is ME doing motherhood!"

Instead, I just said, OK. Yes, all I could come up with was, OK. Then I sat there and ate in silence and tried to ignore the 'perfect' mom sitting across from me.

It's not like my son was drinking Gin and Juice.

Geez.

Question: What do you feed your kids for lunch?
