15 minutes a day

I came across this website promoting literacy in children.

Read to your kids 15 minutes a day

I thought it was a great idea.

We love books and we love to read to him. I am so happy Daddy's home (and not deployed) so that he can read to DJ each and every night. I love to see his eyes light up when he's being read to. He is so animated when certain books are being read to him.

He honestly believes that he can read because he'll start telling the story in the book and makes up his own version of the book. It's so funny and we make sure to go along with it. Sometimes he picks really LONG books
Oh the places you'll go
for us to read. We just get really creative and make up the story according to the pictures. Oh come on, are we the only ones to do that? Be honest. Hah!

His favorite book that he LOVES and LOVES to hear over and over and over is
JOY

He has memorized the book. Don't even think of skipping a page on this kid. He'll quickly catch you in the act. HaHa..

Question: What is your child's ONE favorite all time book? The one that he/she doesn't mind hearing over and over and over again.

Part of my sons homework assignment each night (he's in 1st grade) is to ready a book for at least 30 minutes.

Truth be it told, I find that my 6 year old is more interested in reading than his older sisters are.

My son absolutely loves the book: If you give a pig a Pancake by Laura Numeroff.

No matter how many times (and it has been M-A-N-Y that he reads or asks someone else to read this story for him, he just loves it!

BTW, THAT'S A GREAT PIC OF FATHER & SON!!

Luke doesn't have a particular book, but we have dvds of daddy reading to him for when he is deployed. I love it!

this is so sad and I am ashamed to admit this. Even my kids and husband know my secret and they scold me all the time. I absolutely without a doubt despise reading except for blogs of course!! Oh yeah, and the coupon section of the paper, and email. My girls and husband all LOVE reading. Both girls are straight A students and if I want something out of the old man, all I have to do is dangle the keys in his face and say "book store". New shoes for mama!! LOL!!

I was gonna blog about Tee's favourite book too - just haven't gotten down to it yet. Have been ill, it's almost a month now :-(

Tee's absolute fav. book is MONKEY PUZZLE by JULIA DONALDSON. We have to read it to her over & over & over & over......I think it's the warm fuzzy feeling she gets when the monkey finally finds her Mommy & she can relate (since she is SOOOOO attached to HER Mommy!)
