If I screamed

who would hear me?

As I've written before my son HATES taking naps. I'm not sure what there is to hate about them. I mean honestly they're the best thing since sliced bread in my book. I actually look forward to the break just so I can watch Maury tell someone they're NOT the father for the 800th time of course

My bloggy friend Denae has naps down to a science!

Well, today was the FINAL straw.

My nap routine usually consists of:

Turning on Sesame Street
Lunch time

After it goes off, I change him and walk to the room for quiet time.

Well, this is when all hell breaks loose.

Noooooooooo! I'm not sleepy. No naptime! Elmo nap, not DJ. On and On. Well, needless to say, I led him to the room, read a book and kissed him and walked away. I did NOT look back, you know for fear that I would get suckered into telling him he didn't have to take a nap. That's usually what happens.

I was so proud of myself, it was quiet as kept after about 10 minutes I went in to check on him and was in total SHOCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!

He was sleeping very soundly.

Talk about crying it out for toddlers!

Despite the fact that he chose to decorate himself, the walls and carpet, he was sound asleep.

Question: How do you get diaper rash cream out of the carpet and off the no gloss painted walls? *sigh*
You can stop laughing at me now. And NO i will NOT post the photo of the catastrophe. I'm too traumatized.

Hi Tanyetta. I've missed you. Sorry about the napping. I don't know what to do with a stubborn little boy. At least it was diaper cream and not another creamy brown substance.

Promiscuous Mom: Maury, I'm 110% sure that Leon's the father!

Maury: Well, let's see. *opening envelope* This proves that Leon...is NOT the father!

Leon: *jumping up* That's what I thought! That's what I thought!

PM: *running from stage crying*

I think around the age of 3.5 or so my son also gave up naps. We did notice that he wanted sleep after a very rigorous activity though...like swimming....he would always fall asleep within 30 minutes of getting out the pool from age 3.5-5 (last summer...he is still but turns 6 on 7/31/07). I used to take him swimming around 4pm after the dreaded sun advisory...but then at 6:30 he would be napping and that caused late nights. So DH and I decided that either a morning swim for a mid-day nap or no swimming til like 7pm...so he would be asleep by 9:30 and that be for all night.

So what do you do before he watches sesame street? maybe a kids fitness DVD with learning would be better? or just play outside...We didn't watch sesame street here (I saw a song promoting gay couples as "family") and yet my son still learned his ABC's and 123's w/o it...

Ha! I'm sorry I can't remember what I used. That same thing happened to me before we moved. It was all over. Why do they do this to us?

WOW I'm SO sorry! Crying it out does work though and I"m so glad it worked for you this time! Except for the horrible mess. I wish I knew how to get diaper creme out but I don't!

Try the Mr. Clean Magic eraser for the walls. As for the carpets, might try pet stain remover.
