They're LDS elders
I caught them off guard. When I opened the door, I said, "Hello! Come on in."
Well, of course they had the hugest shock on their faces.
We joked about them not being used to being invited in a lot and being able to share their message much today. Well, we had a great time. I must have been in a good mood, Oprah was on and here I was entertaining the LDS elders.
I told them, I know about their mission and I will always be nice to them because they're always so nicely dressed and they're very polite. You know I had to show them the Family First video and the Blue Bible my husband received years ago when we lived in Monterey.
Turns out they're here for 2 years and it's been 3 months since moving to our town. They said our town reminds them of Utah. I was so curious to ask but, I decided not to ask. You know, just in case there's some scandal going on here and I'm out the loop. I just like to NOT KNOW. HaHa.
I not only invited them in, I fed them (snacks and water) it wasn't until I noticed my dear sweet husband left this on the kitchen counter from last night.
So, I'm sure these sweet young men will have a great conversation about the crazy lady they met who fed them and tried to cover the "devil's juice" on the counter at the same time. HAHA!!

The crazy lady who INVITED them IN, FED them AND took their PICTURE! Too funny!
I didn't know that they went door to door like the JWs. I just thought that they stopped if they saw you outside.
A friend of mine was renovating his house when the LDS boys stopped by. He told them he was busy and worked long hours and had no time to stop and talk. They offered to help. He had one painting, and the other was in the attic running electrical wire. All the while, telling him about Jesus. (He is already a believer by the way.) Anyway, the finished a few hours later and left. A month later, my friends house had ahorrible fire and burned to the ground ( a propane tank next door blew up and landed on his house, and burned it down.)
He thinks its funny now, but didn't then. He often jokes he won't hire any more LDS for his electrical work.
You invited them in?! I would have talked with them at the door. My husband has strict policies!

@ Lissete-i'm sure they're still laughing about me--yes, they go door to door, they stop you on the street, wherever they can share their message.

@Rosemarie-i was in a good mood. they were nice. not sure what you meant about the husband part, i'm always open to hear about any and all types of religions and beliefs.
if i don't know about it, i'll listen or i'll look it up. what got my curiosity a long time ago about these young men were the uniforms, badges and bikes.
they are men on a mission and at a such young age they are serious about their business. so i had to read about it to find out why. :)
I would have thought they were geek squad or something, lol. Glad I know now. I haven't seen them though. LOL @ the devil's juice being out!
I am mad you took their picture! LOL! I am glad you were nice to them. It is not easy going door to door and having doors slam in your face. What goes around comes around.
You never know when one of your children will be far away from home and will need someone to be kind to them.
At first glance I thought they were agents from the "geek squad"! ROFL!
Tanyetta!! Thank you for being nice to the missionaries!! My brother is on a mission right now in New Jersey and as a sis of a 19 year old missionary, I am thankful! How sweet that you gave them snacks and stuff- I bet they were thrilled to meet such a nice woman and family. I'm sure they loved DJ. My husband went on a mission to inner city Cleveland. He worked with a lot of the gangs there, setting up mid-night basketball and things like that to get them off the streets- he grew so much from his experiences. Missionaries are out trying to serve others and share their message, but I think it turns boys into men.
Devil's juice?!!!! Oh I am screaming with laughter!!!!! Those nice gentlemen probably talked about y'all when they left! I LOVE IT!!!

It's quite rare that missionaries are invited in so I just wanted to say THANK YOU for being so incredibly nice to our LDS Missionaries. They are out for two years serving our Father in Heaven and by doing this, I believe they will be extremely blessed. I'm sure it is difficult for them at times because there are others in this world who are not open minded and are very rude. I think they are counseled on how to cope with that kind of thing before they leave the MTC.

Wow! I found your blog and read this post and I must say I love you honey!!! I actually am LDS and always hope that people are nice to my brothers or cousins, even if they aren't interested in the message. You are a saint! :) I'm sure their mothers somewhere appreciated your kindness to their sons! My husband to this day, still talks about the people who were kind to him on his mission and will always remember them. Have a wonderful day!!!
