My daughter's job was robbed at gunpoint last week. I just found out about it yesterday. Don't worry, she was OFF work that day but, still.
Here's how I found out:
Husband: (very calm tone) you know our daughter's job was robbed the other day
Me: WHAT????ROBBED????ARE YOU KIDDING ME? WHEN DID THIS HAPPEN??
Husband: A while ago
Me: A WHILE AGO?? WHAT DOES A WHILE AGO MEAN? WHEN DID THIS HAPPEN??? WHAT HAPPENED HOW DID IT HAPPEN? DID ANYONE GET HURT? OMG!!!!!!!
Husband: It was her day off. She wasn't there. The guy walked in and very calmly asked for all the money in the cash register.
Me: WHAT THE HECK IS UP WITH THAT? ROBBING A SHOE STORE? IS HE FOR REAL? THIS IS CRAZY! I CANNOT BELIEVE THIS HAPPENED. AND WHY ARE YOU JUST TELLING ME THIS?
Husband: Everyone's ok. He only got away with $100. The safe is on a delay. They're only allowed to keep a certain amount of money in the register. Everything's fine.
ME: EVERYTHING'S FINE? EVERYTHING'S FINE? WHAT IF OUR DAUGHTER WAS WORKING THERE, WHAT IF SHE GOT SHOT, WHAT IF THIS TURNED OUT DIFFERENTLY? SHE NEEDS TO QUIT. IT'S NOT SAFE THERE! NOW DO YOU SEE WHY I TELL HER I HATE WHEN SHE WORKS LATE. NOW I'M GOING TO BE UP ALL NIGHT WORRYING IF SHE'S OK WHEN SHE'S WORKING THERE. THIS IS CRAZY! GETTING ROBBED AT GUNPOINT!! OMG! WHEN SHE GETS HOME, I'M TELLING HER TO QUIT THAT JOB!
Husband: Now do you see why we hesitate to tell you things? You're overreacting, things like this happen all the time. You can get robbed going to the ATM, you can get robbed driving in your car, I almost got shot on the rifle range the other day. Freakish things happen everyday.
Me: YOU ALMOST GOT SHOT AT THE RIFLE RANGE? WHAT? BY WHOM? T.I. AND THE MACHINE GUNS?? WHY ARE YOU JUST NOW TELLING ME THIS? WHY IS EVERYONE KEEPING SECRETS FROM ME? WHY WASN'T I TOLD ABOUT THIS ALMOST GETTING SHOT AT BUSINESS BEFORE?
Husband: *sigh*

For some reason, everyone likes to keep stuff from me too! Like I over react or something psh! For the record, I would also want my kid to quit, although realistically, I know better!
You did not overreact! I would be the same way! my husband is always not telling me stuff to because he thinks I overreact and worry too much...uggh!
ohhh dear, I'd want to know about sh*t like too, right away. So I can worry about it and do all these millions of "what if" scenario's of "the worst thing that could possibly happen" cuz I'm crazy like that. *shakin head* Yeah I'm crazy too.
And I'm with you, I'd want my daughter to quit workin too. Tell her to tutor kids or something after school if she wants money.

My husband recently told me that someone using the same equipment he does got electrocuted because his boom pump hit an electrical pole.
Thanks Dear. Just give me something else to worry about. why are they sending you at these places.

Dang!!! I don't think that that's an overeaction at all. Both situations were crazy as hell. Some guys just have ice in their veins I guess. How is your daughter doing though? Is she cool to go back to work?

A woman nearly got kidnapped in the parking lot of my old job. Kind of freaky but then wasn't really much of a big deal after everything was said and done. I think we were also robbed, but that was after hours...I can't remember.
WAIT, this isn't funny at all and very serious, so why am I cracking up? BECAUSE I'M PICTURING THIS AS A SKIT WITH RICKY AND LUCY! I just loved the way he just "threw" in the "I almost got shot"....
